About
Ah, the minstrel, whisking listeners off to faraway places by telling stories through their music. We may not call them minstrel's anymore, but for me, what separates amazing bands from the rest is their ability to paint a vivid picture through their lyrics and being able to completely capture an emotion through instruments and passionate vocals.
I'm a music fanatic and have music playing in the background almost constantly. You'll find me at least once a month (if not two or three times) catching a live show at one of San Francisco's many fine venues. It's also no surprise that I own an iPod, an iPod shuffle, an Airport Express, and installed a hookup for my iPod in my car.
I mostly listen to indie and pop/punk music along with a good helping of soundtracks to various anime series and video games. A while back I wrote a post entitled Punk Reminiscing that details my entry into "the scene". I really enjoy introducing people to the music I listen to, and I equally enjoy being introduced to new music. I also quite like making Mix CDs.
I recently realized that nearly half the posts on my personal blog fall into the Music category so I decided it was time to give myself a more dedicated place to talk about music. In addition to migrating all my previous music posts over to this site and continuing with the CD and concert reviews, recommendations, and other random bits of music news, I hope to find some new things to do on this site. Let me know what you'd like to see here.
Obligatory listing of some of my favorite bands: Death Cab for Cutie, The Get Up Kids, The Postal Service, Brand New, Blink-182, New Found Glory, Fall Out Boy, Jets to Brazil, Something Corporate, Thrice, The Decemberists, Mae, The Format.
The inspiration for this site's title as well as the tagline, "shelter me oh genius words", comes from the song A Minstrel's Prayer by Cartel.
